Thai Airlines resume
services as impact of Sars wears off

Local and regional airlines are in
their normal situation in post-Sars crisis, activating plans to
resume services and extend networks.
Bangkok Airways announced it will
resume its two weekly Bangkok-Xian flights from 20 July onwards and
the Luang Prabang-Danang and Danang-Siem Reap services, operated by
its subsidiary Siem Reap International, this October. It is also
confirmed that the airline would operate services out of Chiang Mai
to four destinations in the Mekong region, starting with Chiang Mai-Bagan
to build its market base and four domestic destinations in the
winter to implement the government's policy of turning Chiang Mai
into a regional hub. Yangon and destinations in China would be the
potential extensive network.
Other local and regional airlines
which has also revived and has set for their resumed flights and
extensive networks include Orient Thai Airlines, operating its
normal services of Bangkok-Hong Kong, Chiang Mai-Hong Kong, and
Phuket-Hong Kong routes; Angle Air, planning to acquire another
aircraft to serve the routes of Bangkok-Chiang Mai-South Korea and
Bangkok-Singapore-South Korea in October, and Phuket Air will
inaugurate twice-weekly services between Bangkok and Yangon.
