Kournikova to help wooing
Thailand's tourism
|
Date: 14 August
2003
Thailand's seaside town of Pattaya
will welcome Russian Tennis star Anna Kournikova in an exhibition
tennis match with local No.1 Tamarine Tanasugarn on November 9,
2003.
As sports, especially tennis become
more and more popular in the country, Tourism Authority of Thailand
take the opportunity to use sports to promote the country by
inviting Anna Kournikova to be an ambassador for tourism in the
beach city. She will also appear in "Unseen in Thailand",
a promotional TAT video on lesser well-known places in and around
the city.
Kournikova reached her best world
ranking of No.8 two years ago, but unrelenting injuries have kept
her out of the court fro most of the 2003 season resulting in her
dropping rank to 135. She has been criticized by the media for
paying more attention to her looks than her game.
