Festival 2003

The Bangkok International Film
Festival will take place January 10-21 2003 under the collaboration
between the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Federation of the
National Film Association (BKKIFF). The event will be the showcase
of international filmmaking companies from both Europe and
throughout Asia which globe together here in this festival. The film
festival will be organized under the theme of "Masters to
Present".
With a vision to establish the
premier film festival in Asia, in the Bangkok International Film
Festival, the Golden Kinnaree Awards will be firstly introduced to
honor the eight top films among others participating in the
festival; 70-80 films from all over the world will be presented. It
is said that this new prize, the Golden Kinnaree Awards (based on an
ancient Thai mythological figure), will soon become the most highly
regarded as Asian prize for international filmmaking, the equivalent
of the Palme d'Or at Cannes. In addition, filmmaking industry in
Southeast Asia will get a good opportunity to promote its capacity
to world wide.
The center of the event will be in
the area of Rama I Road, the very heart of Bangkok, teemed with top
hotels situated within a quick walking distance to the festive area,
allowing convenience and enjoyable environment for festival
attendees.
